LIGO PROJECT (Physics)


LIGO: Gravitational Waves

  • We are very exited to have Professor Giovanni Santostasi on faculty for the 2011 school year to teach the undergraduate physics curriculum. Santostasi has a Ph.D. in Physics from LSU and has been working with LIGO , which stands for Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory. Currently the M.U.M. Science Club is developing Signal Analysis code in MATLAB for Santostasi's LIGO PROJECT.

  • SDi Survey Project
  • Last year we conducted a survey using the Spiral Dynamics model of phycological development to determine worldviews of the M.U.M. student body. The survey was a great success, giving us the valuable data necessary to build an even better survey for the 2010-2011 school year. Currently we are using Mathematica and webMathematica to build and deploy our application for the up coming 2010-2011 school year .

Scientific Outreach Program

The M.U.M. Science Club provides a an allocated research space to help members of the community conduct their own research and investigations into varied areas of intrest. As part of the Scientific Outreach Program we are developing creative ways to present and display our current and future research findings to the broader community.
